The Flood of 1981

During the early hours of Tuesday, 17 April 1981 thunderstorms and torrential rain caused severe flooding across parts of Southwater.  The northern part of Southwater, along Worthing Road, was particularly badly flooded. This photo shows residents in Timber Mill / Quarry Way trying put barricades in place to hold back the flood waters
