Southwater Railway

A train leaves Southwater Station towards Brighton on the ‘down line’. Southwater Station was initially part of the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway Company Ltd.  The station was opened in 1861.  The points (bottom left) show the track leading off to the Southwater Brickworks.  The bridge in the background is ‘Butterfly Bridge’ that was formerly part of Worthing Road.
